They allow him to hook up to a standpipe or system with ease and yet he can still easily disconnect to pull a pump or service a well. When the water is passing through these clear dressers or check valves, the farmer can easily see if there are air bubbles in the flow indicating that a well is pumping off. He can then make adjustments.
